Possible Causes
High resistance in PE conductor to Walli, Corroded earth connection at Walli backplate, Broken earth rod or poor soil contact, Faulty PE sensing circuit in Walli
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not use the charger until a proper earth connection is confirmed. Shock risk is increased.
Steps:
- Visual inspection: With power off, check the PE terminal inside the Walli and the bonding strap to any metal backplate. Tighten all earth screws.
- Check external earth: Have an electrician measure earth resistance from the Walli PE terminal to the main earth bar and to the earth electrode using appropriate test equipment.
- Correct any external issues: Repair or replace corroded lugs, damaged earth conductors, or faulty earth rods as needed.
- Retest charger: After earth resistance is within local code limits, restore power and test. If E08 persists, the PE monitoring circuit on the Walli control board may be defective and should be replaced.
