Possible Causes

Damaged Type 2 connector pins, Broken control pilot wire in cable, Faulty vehicle communication module in charger, Contaminated or wet charge plug

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the Webasto charger at the upstream breaker and verify the vehicle is in Park. Never work on live wiring.

  • Inspect the Type 2 plug: Check the CP and PP pins for bending, corrosion, or burn marks. Clean light contamination with a dry, lint‑free cloth only.
  • Check cable strain relief: At the charger head and at the wallbox, gently flex the cable. If the error appears only when the cable is bent, the internal pilot conductor may be broken.
  • Test with another EV: If available, connect a different vehicle. If E01 persists, the fault is likely in the Webasto unit or cable, not the car.
  • Power cycle: Turn off the breaker for 2 minutes, then restore power and retry a charge. Observe if the error clears.
  • If damage is visible: Do not attempt to repair the cable yourself. Replace the complete Webasto charging cable/connector assembly or contact a qualified EVSE technician.
