Possible Causes

Loose or disconnected earth conductor in supply cable, Corroded earth terminal in charger, Faulty PE sensing circuit on main board, Incorrect installation (no earth connection)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not operate an EV charger without a verified earth connection. Risk of electric shock is severe.

User checks (no covers removed):

  • Check other grounded appliances: If multiple devices in the home show earth-related issues, there may be a building earth problem. Contact an electrician immediately.
  • Power-cycle: Turn the charger’s breaker OFF for 2 minutes, then ON. If E03 clears temporarily and returns, there is likely an intermittent earth connection.

Installer/technician checks:

  • Verify tightness and continuity of the PE conductor at the distribution board and inside the Zaptec terminal block.
  • Inspect for corrosion or overheating at the earth terminal.
  • Measure earth resistance and confirm compliance with local regulations.
  • If wiring is correct and earth is good, suspect a faulty PE sensing circuit on the main control board and replace the board.
