Possible Causes
Shorted or open CP line in Type 2 socket, Damaged CP resistor network on main board, Contamination or damage on CP pin in connector, Incorrect wiring of CP to socket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to rewire the CP line unless you are qualified. Incorrect CP wiring can damage the vehicle’s onboard charger.
Steps:
- Inspect the Type 2 socket: Look closely at the CP pin (usually the small control pin). Check for bending, corrosion, or foreign objects. Clean gently with a dry brush.
- Try another cable and vehicle: If E09 only occurs with one cable or car, that item is likely at fault.
- Power-cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 2 minutes, then ON, and retry.
- Technician checks: Measure CP voltage and waveform according to IEC 61851 at the socket. If out of range, inspect CP wiring continuity and the CP resistor network on the main board. Replace the main control board if the CP driver is defective.
