Possible Causes
Normal defrost cycle indication, Control stuck in defrost due to sensor error, Defrost heater or thermostat fault, PCB logic error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No immediate danger; however, unplug before opening panels.
Steps:
- 1. Wait cycle: Many AEG models briefly show dF during a normal defrost. Wait 20–40 minutes to see if the code clears and cooling resumes.
- 2. Check temperature: If the interior warms excessively and dF remains, inspect the defrost sensor and heater as described in other defrost-related entries.
- 3. Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If dF appears immediately and persists, suspect a control or sensor fault.
- 4. Test defrost components: Verify heater and thermostat continuity and replace faulty parts.
If the unit remains stuck in defrost despite good components, the main PCB may need replacement.
