Possible Causes

Defective condenser temperature sensor, Sensor dislodged from condenser, Blocked condenser airflow causing overheat, Wiring fault between sensor and PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance and allow hot components to cool before touching the rear area.

Steps:

  • 1. Clean condenser: Pull the freezer away from the wall. Vacuum dust from the condenser coils and grille. Ensure at least the manufacturer-recommended clearance around the unit.
  • 2. Locate condenser sensor: On many AEG models, a small NTC sensor is clipped to the condenser tubing or mounted near the compressor.
  • 3. Check sensor position: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the metal surface and not hanging loose.
  • 4. Test sensor: Disconnect and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values at ambient temperature. Replace if open, shorted, or clearly out of range.
  • 5. Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor leads to the main PCB, checking for damage or loose plugs.
  • 6. Replace sensor if needed: Fit a genuine AEG condenser temperature sensor and secure it in the original location.

Note: Persistent E8 after sensor and airflow issues are corrected may indicate a control board fault and should be checked by a technician.
