Possible Causes
Shorted freezer NTC sensor, Sensor wiring short to chassis, Moisture in sensor connector, PCB interpreting sensor as out-of-range low
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing internal panels.
Steps:
- 1. Visual check: Inspect the interior rear wall for signs of condensation or ice around the sensor housing.
- 2. Access sensor: Remove the inner panel or sensor cover. Disconnect the sensor from its plug.
- 3. Measure resistance: Use a multimeter to check resistance. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace if shorted or if readings are far from specification.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Look for crushed or rubbed-through insulation where the harness passes through the liner. Repair or insulate as needed.
- 5. Dry connectors: If moisture is present, dry the area thoroughly and apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the connector if recommended.
- 6. Replace sensor: Fit a genuine AEG freezer NTC sensor and reassemble.
If F1 persists after sensor and wiring replacement, the main PCB may require replacement by a technician.
