Possible Causes

Incorrect NTC type fitted previously, Sensor partially damaged giving wrong resistance curve, Poor contact in sensor connector, PCB ADC (analog-to-digital converter) fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before testing components.

Steps:

  • 1. Confirm correct part: Check the part number on the installed NTC against the AEG parts list for your exact model. Replace if it is not the specified type.
  • 2. Measure resistance at two temperatures: Place the sensor tip in ice water (~0°C) and then at room temperature (~20°C), measuring resistance each time. Compare to AEG's NTC curve. Large deviations indicate a faulty sensor.
  • 3. Inspect connector: Clean and reseat the sensor connector at both ends. Look for bent pins or corrosion.
  • 4. Replace sensor: If in doubt, fit a new genuine AEG sensor and retest.

If F3 persists with a known-good sensor, the main PCB may be misreading the signal and should be evaluated by a professional.
