AEG
Normal Pressure Equalisation / Check Valve Issue
Freezer door difficult to open shortly after closing, strong suction effect
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Normal cooling-induced vacuum, Faulty or blocked pressure equalisation valve, Door gasket sealing too tightly without relief
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No electrical work required.
Steps:
- 1. Wait a moment: It is normal for the door to be harder to open for a few minutes after closing due to pressure changes. Wait 1–2 minutes and try again.
- 2. Check vent: Some AEG freezers have a small pressure equalisation vent. Ensure it is not blocked by packaging or ice.
- 3. Gasket inspection: Ensure the gasket is not twisted or misfitted, which can increase suction.
If the door remains extremely difficult to open for long periods, have a technician inspect the equalisation system.
