Safety: Unplug the freezer before cleaning. Wear gloves if dealing with spoiled food.
Steps:
- 1. Remove all contents: Discard any spoiled or suspect food.
- 2. Thorough cleaning: Wash all internal surfaces, drawers, and shelves with a solution of warm water and bicarbonate of soda or mild detergent. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- 3. Clean drain and pan: Flush the defrost drain and clean the drain pan at the rear to remove stagnant water and residues.
- 4. Air out: Leave the door open for several hours with the unit unplugged to allow odours to dissipate.
- 5. Odour absorbers: Use activated charcoal or baking soda inside the freezer once restarted to absorb residual smells.
