Freezer making loud humming or buzzing noise from rear

Safety: Unplug before adjusting components at the rear.

Steps:

• 1. Check leveling: Ensure the freezer is level and all feet are firmly on the floor. Adjust leveling feet as needed.
• 2. Inspect compressor mounts: Remove the rear cover and check the rubber grommets under the compressor. Re-seat or replace if perished.
• 3. Isolate tubing: Look for condenser or refrigerant pipes touching the cabinet or each other. Gently bend them away slightly and insert foam or rubber spacers.
• 4. Tighten panels: Tighten any loose screws on the rear cover or internal panels that may resonate.

If the compressor itself is excessively loud and the noise has worsened over time, it may be failing and should be assessed by a refrigeration technician.
