Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the rear compartment. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system.
Steps:
- 1. Listen and feel: With the unit plugged in (for testing), listen for compressor hum or vibration. If silent and cool to the touch after 10–15 minutes, it is not running. Unplug again.
- 2. Check thermostat / controls: Ensure the freezer is switched on and not in demo mode. Set to a colder setting.
- 3. Inspect start device: Remove the rear lower cover. Pull off the compressor terminal cover and inspect the start relay/PTC and overload for burn marks or loose fit.
- 4. Test start relay and overload: With a multimeter, check for continuity according to specifications. Replace if open or physically damaged.
- 5. Check board output (advanced): A trained person can measure if the control board sends mains voltage to the compressor when cooling is demanded. If not, the board may be faulty.
If the compressor receives correct power but does not start or trips the overload, it is likely defective and must be replaced by a certified refrigeration technician.
