Possible Causes
Stuck thermostat contacts (mechanical models), Faulty NTC sensor reading too warm, Control PCB not cycling compressor off, Incorrect sensor placement touching evaporator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing controls or sensors.
Steps:
- 1. Verify setpoint: Confirm the temperature setting is not at the coldest position. Adjust to a higher (warmer) setting and monitor.
- 2. Check sensor location: Ensure the freezer NTC is in its original clip and not pressed directly against the evaporator, which can cause misreading.
- 3. Test thermostat (mechanical): For models with a dial thermostat, listen for a click when turning from warm to cold. Lack of clicking may indicate a stuck thermostat that needs replacement.
- 4. Replace faulty sensor or thermostat: If the sensor tests out of range or the thermostat is stuck closed, replace with the correct AEG part.
If overcooling persists with correct sensors and thermostat, the main control board may have a stuck relay and should be replaced by a technician.
