Possible Causes
Frozen or clogged drain hole under evaporator, Debris blocking drain tube, Drain heater (if fitted) not working, Cabinet insulation moisture causing refreezing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or working near the evaporator.
Steps:
- 1. Defrost ice: Remove drawers and rear internal panel. Melt ice around the drain trough using warm water or a hair dryer on low. Do not use sharp tools.
- 2. Clear drain hole: Locate the drain hole at the bottom of the evaporator tray. Use a soft pipe cleaner or flexible plastic rod to gently clear the blockage.
- 3. Flush drain: Pour a small amount of warm water down the drain and confirm it flows freely to the drain pan above the compressor.
- 4. Check drain heater (if present): Some AEG models have a small heater near the drain. Test for continuity and replace if open.
- 5. Reassemble: Refit panels and restart the freezer. Monitor for recurrence.
