Freezer not cooling at all; interior is room temperature, lights may work but no cold air is produced.

Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor compartment. High voltage is present.

Steps:

• Listen for operation: Plug in the freezer and listen for the compressor and fans. If only the interior light works, proceed.
• Check control settings: Ensure the freezer is not in an "off" or demo mode and that the temperature is set to a cold setting.
• Access compressor area: Remove the rear lower access panel. Inspect the start relay and overload on the compressor for burns or rattling.
• Replace start device: If the relay is suspect, replace it with the correct Amana start relay/overload kit.
• Control board: If the compressor still does not attempt to start and there is no voltage to the start device, the main control board may be defective and should be replaced.
• Compressor failure: If the compressor hums briefly then clicks off even with a new start device, the compressor may be locked or internally failed. Contact a licensed refrigeration technician for sealed system service.
