Possible Causes
Failed compressor relay on main PCB, Burnt relay contacts due to high current, Cracked solder joints on relay pins, Control board not sending start signal to compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the main control board. High voltages are present.
Diagnosis:
- 1. Listen for compressor: When powered, if you never hear the compressor start (no humming or vibration) but the display works, suspect the relay or control board.
- 2. Access main PCB: Remove the rear lower panel and locate the control board. Identify the compressor relay (often a small rectangular component near the compressor output terminals).
- 3. Visual inspection: Look for burn marks, cracked casing, or darkened PCB around the relay. Check for cracked solder joints on the relay pins.
- 4. Re-solder (advanced): If you are experienced with soldering, you may reflow cracked joints. Otherwise, replace the entire board.
- 5. Replace main PCB: If the relay is clearly damaged or E14 persists, replace the "Amica Main Control Board" with the correct part for your model.
Warning: Do not attempt to bypass the relay or hard-wire the compressor; this is dangerous and can cause fire or compressor damage.
