Freezer shows E2 and may run continuously or not cool correctly; temperature display may flash.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Always unplug the freezer before removing covers or touching wiring.
Diagnostic steps:
- 1. Confirm the error: Power cycle the appliance. If E2 reappears after a short time, proceed.
- 2. Locate the ambient/cabinet sensor: On many Amica freezers this sensor is located behind the internal liner near the air return, or in the control housing at the top/front. Look for a small plastic cover or grille with two thin wires leading away.
- 3. Visual inspection: Check for broken wires, crushed insulation, or signs of moisture around the sensor. Dry any visible condensation.
- 4. Resistance test: Disconnect the sensor plug and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to expected NTC values (often 5–20 kΩ at room temperature). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a failed sensor.
- 5. Harness and board check: Follow the sensor wires to the main PCB. Ensure the connector is fully seated and not corroded. Gently reseat the plug.
- 6. Replace sensor if needed: Order an "Amica Ambient NTC Sensor" or "Cabinet Temperature Sensor" for your exact model. Swap the sensor, route the cable as originally installed, and reassemble.
Note: If the sensor and wiring test correctly but E2 persists, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a qualified technician.
