Possible Causes
Loose or oxidized connector between display PCB and main control board, Damaged communication harness in door or cabinet, Faulty display PCB, Faulty main control PCB communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or rear cover.
Troubleshooting steps:
- 1. Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If E6 returns, continue.
- 2. Access control panel: On upright Amica freezers, the display is usually in the door or top fascia. Remove the trim and screws to access the display PCB. Check the ribbon cable or harness for damage and ensure connectors are fully seated.
- 3. Check rear main PCB connections: Remove the rear lower panel to access the main control board. Inspect the harness from the display for pinched wires or loose plugs. Reseat all connectors.
- 4. Inspect for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or water ingress around the display area. Dry thoroughly and improve door seal if necessary.
- 5. Component substitution: If wiring is intact, the fault is usually either the display PCB or the main PCB. Replacing the display PCB ("Amica Freezer Display Module") is typically easier and less expensive; if that does not resolve E6, the main control board likely needs replacement.
Note: Handle PCBs by the edges and avoid static discharge. If unsure, have a technician perform board-level diagnostics.
