Possible Causes
Deformed or torn door gasket, Door hinges loose or bent, Cabinet warped due to improper leveling, Magnetic strip in gasket weakened
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before adjusting hinges to avoid accidental fan or light operation.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect gasket: Look for tears, hardened sections, or areas not contacting the cabinet. Clean the gasket with warm soapy water and dry.
- 2. Warm and reshape: Use a hair dryer on low to gently warm deformed areas and pull them into shape. Allow to cool while holding in position.
- 3. Adjust hinges: Tighten hinge screws and adjust the door so it is square with the cabinet and closes evenly.
- 4. Replace gasket: If damage is severe, remove the old gasket (usually pressed into a channel) and fit a new "Amica Freezer Door Gasket" for your model.
Tip: After replacement, close the door and check for uniform contact all around using the paper test.
