Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole behind evaporator, Frozen drain tube, Cracked or displaced drain funnel, Door gasket leaking warm air causing condensation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or clearing drains.
Steps:
- 1. Locate drain: Remove the internal rear panel to access the evaporator. At the bottom you will usually find a small drain hole or trough.
- 2. Clear ice: Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or syringe to flush the drain hole until water flows freely into the drain pan under the freezer.
- 3. Clean drain tube: From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the drip tray. Gently insert a flexible plastic line or pipe cleaner to remove blockages.
- 4. Check drip tray: Ensure the tray above the compressor is correctly positioned and not cracked.
- 5. Inspect door gasket: Replace the "Amica Freezer Door Gasket" if it is damaged and allowing excess moisture in.
Tip: Do not use sharp objects to clear the drain; you can puncture the liner or tubing.
