Possible Causes

Door left open or not sealing properly, Excessive warm food recently loaded, Evaporator fan not running, Blocked air vents inside freezer

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: This alarm usually does not require unplugging the appliance, but if you need to move or inspect wiring, disconnect power from the wall outlet.

Step-by-step:

  • Check the door: Make sure the freezer door is fully closed and not obstructed by food packages. Inspect the door gasket all around for gaps, tears, or hardened sections. Gently clean the gasket with warm soapy water and dry it.
  • Check recent loading: If you recently added a large quantity of unfrozen food, the A1 alarm can trigger. Spread items out so air can circulate and avoid blocking the rear and side vents.
  • Verify internal airflow: Listen for the evaporator fan running when the door is closed (you may hear it stop when you open the door and start again when you press the door switch). If the fan is silent and the compressor is running, the fan motor or its wiring may be faulty.
  • Reset the alarm: Press the alarm reset or temperature confirmation button (refer to the Ariston user interface, often a bell or alarm icon). Monitor the temperature for several hours. If the alarm returns and the door is sealing, further diagnosis of the fan, thermostat sensor, or control board is needed.

When to call a technician: If the fan does not run, ice is building up on the back wall, or the temperature does not drop after 12–24 hours, contact a qualified technician to test the evaporator fan motor and temperature sensor.
