Possible Causes
Defective magnetic door switch or reed sensor, Misaligned door or hinge, Broken wiring to door switch, Faulty control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing any trim around the door frame.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and is not sagging. Adjust leveling feet so the cabinet is not twisted.
- Inspect door gasket: Look for warped or damaged gasket sections that prevent full closure.
- Locate door switch: On many Ariston freezers, the switch is a small plunger or magnetic sensor in the frame. Press it manually (with power on) to see if the interior light and alarm respond correctly.
- Replace switch if faulty: If pressing the switch does not change the light/alarm state, replace the door switch or sensor with an Ariston-compatible part.
When to call a technician: If a new switch does not resolve E9, the control board input circuit may be defective.
