Possible Causes
Door left open or not sealing, Excessive warm food load, Evaporator fan not running, Condenser coils clogged
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is usually not an electrical shock hazard, but avoid prolonged door opening to prevent food spoilage. Unplug the freezer before removing any panels.
- Check door closure: Make sure the door is fully closed and not obstructed by baskets or food packages. Inspect the door gasket all around for gaps, tears, or hardened sections.
- Check recent loading: If you recently added a large quantity of unfrozen food, the alarm may sound until the temperature recovers. Allow 12–24 hours with the door closed and verify that the alarm clears.
- Inspect airflow: Ensure air vents inside the cabinet are not blocked by food. Rearrange items to allow air circulation.
- Clean condenser: Unplug the unit, pull it away from the wall, and vacuum dust from the condenser grille or coils and the compressor compartment. Poor airflow can cause high temperature.
- Check evaporator fan operation: With the unit running and door switch held closed, listen for the evaporator fan inside the freezer. If it is silent or noisy, the fan motor may be failing and should be replaced.
If the alarm persists after 24 hours of normal operation and basic checks, contact a qualified technician to test the sealed system and sensors.
