Freezer display shows AL02 and may beep intermittently; temperature reading may be inaccurate or show dashes.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the wall outlet or circuit breaker before accessing internal components.
- Power reset: Unplug the freezer for 5 minutes, then reconnect. If AL02 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
- Locate the cabinet sensor: On most Asko freezers, the cabinet NTC sensor is mounted behind an interior wall cover or in a small plastic housing on the liner. Remove the cover carefully.
- Inspect wiring: Check the sensor leads for cuts, pinches, or signs of moisture damage. Ensure the connector is fully seated at both the sensor and control board ends (access the control board from the top or rear service panel).
- Test the sensor (if you have a multimeter): At room temperature, the NTC sensor should show a resistance in the tens of kilo-ohms (exact value depends on model). An open circuit (infinite resistance) or a dead short (near 0 Ω) indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace the sensor if faulty: Disconnect the old sensor, route the new sensor along the same path, and secure it away from moving parts or sharp edges. Reinstall covers and restore power.
If the sensor tests good but AL02 persists, the main control board may have a failed sensor input and should be diagnosed by a professional.
