Possible Causes
Defective magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken door switch wiring, Faulty input on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing trim or control panels around the door area.
- Check door closure and alignment: Ensure the door closes squarely and the hinges are not sagging. A misaligned door can move the magnet away from the sensor.
- Locate the door sensor: On many Asko freezers, a magnetic reed switch is located in the cabinet frame, with a corresponding magnet in the door.
- Test the switch (if accessible): With power off, remove the switch from the frame and check continuity while placing a magnet near it. It should open and close reliably. Replace if it does not change state.
- Inspect the door gasket and magnet strip: Some models use a magnet embedded in the gasket. If the gasket is damaged or loose, the magnet may not be close enough to the sensor.
- Replace faulty components: Install a new door switch or gasket as needed, ensuring proper alignment so the alarm stops when the door is closed.
If the switch and magnet are good but AL08 persists, the control board input circuit may be faulty and require professional service.
