Possible Causes
Damaged or dirty door gasket, Door not closing fully, Door opened frequently or left ajar, Warped door or misaligned hinges
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before performing a full manual defrost.
- Inspect and clean gasket: Wipe the door gasket and cabinet mating surface with warm soapy water. Look for tears, gaps, or hardened sections.
- Check door alignment: Ensure the door is level and square. Adjust hinges if the door sags or rubs.
- Perform manual defrost: Remove food to a cooler, unplug the unit, and allow all frost to melt. Use towels to catch water. Do not use sharp tools to chip ice.
- Replace gasket if needed: Install a new Asko-compatible gasket if the old one does not seal. Warm the gasket with a hair dryer (on low) to help it conform.
After defrosting and gasket repair, monitor frost levels. Normal frost should be light and confined mainly to the evaporator area.
