How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer and allow it to defrost fully before working near the evaporator. Water can create slip hazards.

Steps:

Defrost completely: Leave doors open until all ice is gone. This may take several hours.
Access defrost components: Remove the interior rear panel to expose the evaporator, heater, and thermostat.
Test heater: Disconnect heater leads and check resistance with a multimeter. Replace if open.
Test defrost thermostat: While cold, it should show continuity. If it remains open when cold, replace it.
Inspect wiring and connectors: Repair any burnt or broken wires.
Control board: If heater and thermostat are good, the main control board may not be initiating defrost. Replace the main control board if no voltage is supplied to the heater during a defrost cycle.

Freezer interior is warm but the compressor and fans are running continuously; frost-free Avanti model has solid ice block on evaporator.
