Freezer not cooling at all; interior is room temperature, light may work but compressor is silent.

Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor or control components. Capacitors can hold charge; discharge per manufacturer instructions if present.

Steps:

• Verify power: Confirm the outlet has power by plugging in another device. Check the circuit breaker.
• Check control setting: Ensure the thermostat is not set to OFF or the warmest setting. On digital models, verify the unit is not in standby mode.
• Listen for compressor attempt: Plug in the freezer and listen for a brief hum or click from the compressor area. Repeated clicking without running suggests a start device issue.
• Inspect start relay/overload: Remove the rear lower panel, pull off the start device from the compressor, and inspect for burn marks or rattling. Replace with the correct Avanti start relay/overload if suspect.
• Test thermostat (mechanical): Bypass the thermostat temporarily by connecting its two main wires together (with power unplugged, then restore power). If the compressor starts, replace the thermostat.
• Control board (digital): If the compressor never receives voltage when there is a call for cooling, the main control board may be defective and should be replaced.

Note: If the compressor is hot and hums loudly then trips, it may be locked and require professional diagnosis.
