Possible Causes
Thermostat contacts welded closed, Temperature sensor reading too warm, Control board relay stuck on, Door gasket leaking causing constant heat gain
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before testing controls.
Steps:
- Verify actual temperature: Use an accurate freezer thermometer to confirm interior temperature. If it is much colder than setpoint, suspect a control issue.
- Inspect gasket: Check for frost near the door and test gasket seal. Replace if leaking.
- Test thermostat: On mechanical models, turn the thermostat to OFF. If the compressor keeps running, the thermostat is stuck and must be replaced.
- Sensor/control board: On digital models, test the cabinet sensor and replace if out of spec. If sensor is good, replace the main control board if it continues to power the compressor constantly.
