Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain hole with ice or debris, Drain tube disconnected or cracked, Drain pan misaligned or overflowing, Excessive humidity causing heavy defrost water
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before working inside. Use towels to catch water.
Steps:
- Locate drain: Inside the freezer, remove the rear panel to access the evaporator and locate the drain hole at the bottom of the drain trough.
- Clear blockage: Use warm water in a turkey baster or squeeze bottle to flush the drain hole until water flows freely to the drain pan underneath.
- Check drain tube: From the rear of the unit, remove the lower panel and inspect the drain tube leading to the drain pan. Ensure it is connected, not kinked, and not cracked.
- Inspect drain pan: Make sure the pan is properly positioned under the tube and not cracked. Replace if damaged.
- Prevent recurrence: Avoid storing food directly over the drain trough where packaging can shed debris into the drain.
