Possible Causes
Stuck or shorted keypad button, Moisture ingress into control panel, Damaged UI ribbon cable, Faulty user interface PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before opening the control panel.
- Inspect control panel: Check for visible cracks, liquid spills, or condensation inside the display area.
- Dry the panel: If moisture is suspected, leave the freezer unplugged with the door slightly open for several hours to dry, or gently warm the panel area (not exceeding safe temperatures).
- Check buttons: Press each button individually to feel for sticking. Do not use excessive force.
- Access UI board: Remove the screws securing the control housing and carefully disconnect the ribbon cable from the main board. Inspect for corrosion or damage.
- Reconnect and test: Reseat the ribbon cable firmly and restore power. If E1 persists, the UI board may need replacement.
- Replace UI board: Install a new Bauknecht user interface module matching the model number. Transfer any seals or gaskets to maintain moisture protection.
