Possible Causes

Defective magnetic door switch or mechanical switch, Broken switch wiring, Misaligned door magnet (on models with reed switch), Faulty main PCB input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before working around the door frame or control housing.

  • Locate door switch: On many Bauknecht freezers, the switch is integrated into the frame or control panel at the top.
  • Test switch: If mechanical, press it by hand and listen for a click. Use a multimeter to check continuity when pressed and released. If magnetic, move a magnet near the sensor and check for state change.
  • Inspect magnet: Ensure the door magnet (if used) is still in place and aligned with the switch location.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the switch to the control board for damage.
  • Replace faulty switch: Install a new Bauknecht-compatible door/light switch or reed sensor. Ensure it is firmly seated and aligned.
  • Board input: If the switch and wiring are good but E2 remains, the main PCB input may be defective and require replacement.
