Possible Causes
Burned-out evaporator fan motor, Ice blocking fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty main control board fan output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing internal panels.
- Access evaporator fan: Remove drawers and the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator and fan housing.
- Check for ice blockage: Look for ice buildup around the fan. If present, fully defrost the area using warm air. Do not use sharp tools to chip ice.
- Spin fan by hand: The fan should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely faulty.
- Test motor: Disconnect the fan connector and measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the fan to the control board for damage or loose plugs.
- Replace fan motor: Install a new Bauknecht-compatible evaporator fan motor, ensuring correct orientation and secure mounting.
- Control board check: If the fan motor is good but never receives power when the compressor runs, the main PCB may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
