Possible Causes
Defective PTC start relay, Open overload protector, Seized compressor, Loose wiring at compressor terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor area.
- Access compressor: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor and electrical box.
- Inspect start components: Remove the start relay and overload. Check for rattling pieces inside the relay or burn marks.
- Test compressor windings: With the start device removed, measure resistance between the three compressor pins. All readings should be finite and not shorted to ground. If windings are open or shorted, the compressor is faulty.
- Replace start device: If the compressor tests OK, install a new Bauknecht-compatible start relay and overload.
- Professional service: If the compressor is seized or electrically faulty, it must be replaced by a certified refrigeration technician.
