Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Debris or food particles in drain channel, Drain heater (if fitted) not working
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or removing panels. Water on the floor can be slippery.
- Locate drain: Inside the freezer, remove drawers and the rear inner panel to find the drain hole beneath the evaporator.
- Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner or flexible plastic rod to gently clear the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal tools.
- Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush warm (not boiling) water through the drain until it flows freely into the drain pan above the compressor.
- Check external drain tube: From the rear, inspect the drain tube and pan for blockages or misalignment.
- Repeat if necessary: If the drain repeatedly freezes, check door sealing and defrost system operation, and consider having a technician inspect the drain heater (if present).
