Possible Causes
Faulty compressor start relay or PTC, Defective inverter module (on inverter models), Faulty main control board, Overheated or locked compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance. Compressor and inverter circuits carry mains voltage; do not work live.
Steps:
- Ventilation check: Ensure there is adequate space around the freezer and that the condenser at the back is not blocked with dust.
- Power reset: Unplug for 15 minutes and reconnect. Listen for the compressor attempting to start.
- Inspect compressor area:
- Remove the lower rear cover to access the compressor compartment.
- Check the start relay/PTC and wiring for signs of burning or melting.
- Replace start device (non-inverter models): If the PTC/relay is visibly damaged or rattles when shaken, replace it with a genuine Beko start device.
- If the unit uses an inverter module, do not attempt internal repairs; the module or compressor may be faulty and requires professional diagnosis.
- If E5 persists after replacing the start device, the compressor or main control board is likely defective; contact a refrigeration technician.
