Freezer making loud humming or buzzing noise from the back

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before adjusting components at the back.

Steps:

• Level the appliance: Use a spirit level and adjust the front feet so the freezer is stable and does not rock.
• Check for contact: At the rear, gently bend any copper or steel tubing away from the cabinet if it is touching and vibrating (do not kink the pipes).
• Inspect condenser fan (if fitted): Ensure the fan blades are not hitting wiring or debris. Clean dust and reposition wires.
• If the noise clearly comes from inside the compressor and is very loud, the compressor may be failing. This requires a refrigeration technician for diagnosis and replacement.
