Possible Causes
Defective ambient NTC sensor in control fascia, Loose or oxidized connector at display PCB, Damaged wiring between ambient sensor and main PCB, Faulty display/control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate the appliance from the mains before removing the control fascia or display panel.
Steps:
- 1. Access the control fascia: On upright Belling freezers, remove the top front panel or door trim to access the display PCB and ambient sensor.
- 2. Inspect the sensor: The ambient sensor is often a small NTC probe near the display or behind a vent slot. Check that it is not broken or contaminated with moisture.
- 3. Check connections: Reseat the sensor plug on the display or main PCB. Look for green/white corrosion on pins and clean gently if needed.
- 4. Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to typical NTC values. Replace if readings are abnormal.
- 5. Harness and PCB: If the sensor is good, check continuity of the harness. If wiring is intact and E3 persists, the display or main PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
Tip: Label connectors before unplugging to avoid misconnection during reassembly.
