Possible Causes
Faulty electronic thermostat circuit on PCB, Sticking mechanical thermostat (on simpler models), Incorrect sensor calibration, Loose thermostat capillary bulb (if fitted)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect from mains before accessing controls.
Steps:
- 1. Check user settings: Ensure the temperature setpoint is correct and that any fast-freeze or holiday modes are not engaged.
- 2. Mechanical thermostat models: If your Belling freezer uses a rotary thermostat, remove the control housing and inspect the thermostat and capillary bulb. Ensure the bulb is firmly clipped to the evaporator or liner and not kinked.
- 3. Test thermostat: For mechanical types, check continuity across the thermostat terminals while slowly turning the knob. Replace if it does not switch reliably.
- 4. Electronic models: If sensors are known good but E9 persists, the thermostat function within the main PCB may be faulty. Inspect the PCB and replace if necessary.
Tip: After replacing a thermostat or PCB, allow 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize before judging performance.
