Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Broken fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing internal panels or touching the fan.

Steps:

  • 1. Listen for fan: After the door is closed for a few minutes, you should hear the evaporator fan running. If silent, proceed with checks.
  • 2. Access fan: Remove the internal rear panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
  • 3. Check for ice: Look for ice build-up around the fan. If present, defrost the unit fully and check defrost system operation.
  • 4. Spin test: Gently spin the fan blades by hand. If stiff or seized, replace the fan motor.
  • 5. Electrical test: With the unit unplugged, check continuity of the fan motor windings. Open circuit indicates a failed motor. Also inspect the wiring harness and connectors.
  • 6. PCB output: If the fan motor and wiring are good, the PCB may not be supplying voltage. Replace the main control PCB if no output is present when the fan should run.
