Possible Causes
Defective magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken switch wiring, Faulty input on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working around the door switch or control panel.
Troubleshooting steps:
- 1. Locate the door switch: On Bomann freezers, this is usually a small plunger or magnetic switch in the cabinet frame near the top or side, or integrated into the control housing.
- 2. Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket makes uniform contact. A sagging door can move the magnet away from the switch.
- 3. Test the switch: Remove the switch from the cabinet (carefully prying it out) and disconnect the wires. Use a multimeter to check continuity while pressing the plunger or placing a magnet near the reed switch. Replace if it does not change state.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Look for pinched or broken wires in the door area and at the control board connection. Repair as needed.
- 5. Replace faulty components: Install a new Bomann-compatible door switch or magnet if defective. If the switch and wiring are good but E6 remains, the main control board input may be faulty.
Note: A stuck-on door switch can keep the interior light on, overheating the cabinet and raising temperature.
