Possible Causes
Evaporator fan not running, Fan vents blocked by food, Heavy frost on evaporator cover, Fan running at reduced speed due to failing motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the fan or evaporator.
Steps:
- 1. Check loading: Ensure baskets and packages are not blocking air vents at the rear or top of the cabinet.
- 2. Listen for fan: With the door switch held closed, briefly plug in and listen for the evaporator fan. If silent, unplug and inspect.
- 3. Inspect for frost: Remove the rear interior panel. If the evaporator is encased in ice, defrost fully and check the defrost system (heater, sensor, drain).
- 4. Test and replace fan: If the fan is not running or is weak, replace the evaporator fan motor.
