Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Broken fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the fan. Beware of sharp metal edges and ice.

Steps:

  • Check for airflow: With the door closed for several minutes and then opened, you should normally feel cold air movement. If not, suspect the fan.
  • Access fan: Remove drawers and the inner rear panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
  • Inspect for ice: Look for ice buildup around the fan housing or blades. If present, defrost the area using a hair dryer on low and towels to catch water. Do not pry ice with tools.
  • Spin the fan: Gently rotate the fan blades by hand. If stiff or jammed, the motor may be seized or obstructed.
  • Test motor: Disconnect the fan connector and measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you have access to the wiring diagram, verify supply voltage when the unit is powered (only if you are trained and using proper precautions).
  • Replace fan motor: If faulty, install a Bosch-compatible evaporator fan motor. Ensure the fan blades are correctly oriented and not rubbing on the housing.
  • Control board: If the fan motor tests good but never receives power, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
