Possible Causes
Failed electronic control module, Power surge damage, Shorted component on control PCB, Loose power connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer. Electronic boards contain high-voltage components; do not touch any capacitors immediately after unplugging.
Steps:
- Check power source: Verify the outlet has correct voltage and is not controlled by a wall switch. Test with another appliance.
- Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, burns, or kinks. Replace the cord if damaged.
- Access main control board: On many Brandt freezers, the board is located in a rear control box or at the top behind a cover. Remove the cover screws and gently pull out the board.
- Inspect visually: Look for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or blackened areas on the PCB. If present, the board must be replaced.
- Check connectors: Reseat all plugs, especially the mains input and compressor/fan outputs. Ensure earth/ground connections are secure.
- If AL10 persists after reseating: Replace the main electronic control module with the correct Brandt part number.
