Possible Causes
Defective mechanical thermostat (on basic models), Faulty temperature sensor (NTC), Stuck relay on main control board, Air leaks through door gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the thermostat or control board.
Steps:
- Check door seal: Inspect the gasket all around for gaps. Close the door on a sheet of paper; it should grip firmly. Replace the gasket if loose or torn.
- Verify temperature setting: Ensure the control is not set to maximum cold unnecessarily. Adjust to a mid setting and monitor.
- Mechanical thermostat models: Access the thermostat behind the control knob. Listen for a click when turning from warm to cold. If no click or no change in compressor operation, replace the thermostat.
- Electronic models: Test the cabinet temperature sensor and replace if out of spec. If sensor is good, the main control board relay may be stuck and should be replaced.
