Frost or ice buildup on the interior walls, ceiling, or around the door opening

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before using any heat source near the gasket.

Steps:

• Inspect gasket: Look for cracks, tears, or areas not contacting the cabinet.
• Paper test: Close the door on a strip of paper at several points. If it pulls out easily, the seal is weak there.
• Reshape gasket: Warm stiff areas with a hair dryer and gently pull them into shape so they contact the frame.
• Adjust door: Tighten hinge screws and adjust the door so it sits squarely. Replace hinges if badly worn.
• Replace gasket: If damage is severe, install a new Brandt door gasket.
