Possible Causes

Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Broken sensor lead embedded in evaporator area, Poor connection between evaporator sensor and main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the freezer from mains power before removing any panels or touching wiring.

E2 typically points to a problem with the evaporator temperature sensor used for defrost control.

  • Access the evaporator area: Empty the freezer section as needed. Remove the rear internal panel (usually held by screws) to expose the evaporator coil and sensor.
  • Locate the sensor: On Bush freezers, the evaporator NTC is usually clipped to the evaporator tubing or fixed in a small plastic housing attached to the coil.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for broken insulation, snapped wires, or corrosion at the sensor connector. Check that the sensor is firmly clipped to the evaporator.
  • Test the sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from its connector and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the cabinet sensor if identical type; a reading of OL or 0 Ω indicates failure.
  • Replace the evaporator sensor: If faulty, install a new evaporator NTC temperature sensor compatible with your Bush model. Clip it securely to the evaporator coil in the same position as the original.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the evaporator cover, restore power, and check if the E2 code clears after a few minutes of operation.

If E2 remains after sensor replacement, the main control PCB or wiring harness may be defective and should be checked by a professional.
