Possible Causes
Door left open or not sealing, Recent large warm food load, Compressor or condenser fan not running
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Check food safety; partially thawed food may need to be discarded according to food safety guidelines.
H1/HI is a high-temperature alarm rather than a component failure code, but it can indicate underlying faults.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door or lid is fully closing. Remove items blocking closure and inspect the door gasket for tears or warping.
- Allow recovery time: If you recently added a large quantity of unfrozen food or had a power cut, allow 12–24 hours for the freezer to pull down to temperature. Keep the door closed as much as possible.
- Verify compressor operation: Listen for the compressor running and feel for gentle vibration at the rear. If silent for long periods, investigate compressor/start components (see E4).
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate space around the freezer (usually at least 5–10 cm at sides and rear) and that the condenser coils are not clogged with dust.
- Reset alarm: Most Bush freezers allow you to silence the alarm by pressing the alarm or set button. The code will clear automatically once temperature returns to normal.
If the freezer cannot reach the correct temperature despite these checks, further diagnosis of the cooling system is required.
