Possible Causes

Child lock feature enabled by button combination, Stuck or worn control buttons, User interface misinterpretation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: No internal repair is needed for this condition; it is a user setting.

L1 or a lock symbol usually indicates the child lock is active on Bush freezers.

  • Unlock the panel: Press and hold the designated lock button (often marked with a key or padlock) for 3–5 seconds. On some models, hold the Up and Down temperature buttons together for several seconds until the lock icon disappears.
  • Check user manual: If unsure of the combination, refer to the Bush freezer user manual for your specific model.
  • Test buttons: After unlocking, press other buttons to confirm they respond. If some buttons still do not work, the touch control PCB may be faulty (see E6).

If the lock cannot be cleared using the documented method, the control panel may be malfunctioning and require inspection or replacement.
