Possible Causes

Damaged door gasket, Door not closing fully due to overloading, Misaligned door hinges on Bush upright freezer

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before adjusting hinges or performing a full defrost.

  • Inspect gasket: Look for splits, gaps, or areas where the gasket does not contact the cabinet. Warm, moist air entering will cause heavy frost.
  • Check door alignment: On upright models, ensure the door is level and square. Adjust the door hinges by loosening the mounting screws and realigning the door, then retighten.
  • Reduce overloading: Avoid stacking items so high that they press against the door and prevent full closure.
  • Manual defrost: Once the cause is corrected, fully defrost the interior to remove existing frost and restore efficiency.

Persistent frost despite good seals may indicate a faulty defrost system on frost-free models (see E3).
